Skin Rejuvenation

Skin Rejuvenation, (aka a Photofacial) is a non-invasive, safe and highly effective treatment that improves the appearance and quality of skin affected by age, sun exposure and environmental pollution. Using our innovative med-aesthetic technology we are able to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, shrink enlarged pores, diminish sun spots and revitalize the skin for a fresh and youthful glow.  This treatment provides immediate, long lasting results in just a few sessions and requires no down time.  Skin rejuvenation treatments are suitable for the face, neck, chest, hands and lower arms.

How it Works

Skin Rejuvenation treatments use intense wavelengths of light that penetrate deep into the second layer of the dermis without harming surrounding tissue. By controlling the wavelength and intensity of the light emitted we are able to target and treat skin conditions through selective photothermolysis and neocollagenesis. First, through the process of selective photothermolysis, the absorbed light causes just enough damage to targeted cells that the body will generate a healing response. As a result, the unwanted pigment breaks down and the body will naturally dispose of it by either absorption or shedding. Freckles and sun spots will temporarily darken after the treatment (the darkening is a sign of adequate light absorption), and then slowly lighten or flake off after a few days to a few weeks.  Secondly, neocollagenesis occurs when selective tissue heating destroys damaged collagen fibres and new collagen production is stimulated.  This improves the architecture of the dermal layers tightening the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and shrinking enlarged pores.

Aftercare instructions

  • Avoid direct sunlight, tanning beds or self-tanners for at least 2 weeks after a treatment.
  • Apply sun protective cream of SPF 50+. Consider wearing protective clothing to cover the treated area.
  • If there are scabs or blisters, make-up should not be used for 3-4 days.
